Strange electrical problems

Last week my X5 4.8is began having strange electrical problems. The first thing that happened was that the passenger airbag light came on in the display and the overhead console. The light would be intermittent. The next thing that happened was the alarm would go off, I could reset with keyfob but would go off again once armed. The display said that a door was open even though it wasn't. I took the X5 to my local BMW mechanic and he put it on a diagnostic computer which showed the faults relating to the alarms and airbag. He reset the codes and the alarm has not gone off since but the airbag light is on again. Has anyone had these kind of electrical problems before? What should I do next?

My electrical gremlins were solved when I had a new alternator put in.

maybe bring the vehicle to a competent mechanic who will actually fix the problem instead of clearing the codes? did the mechanic check the alarm counter to see what triggered the alarm? if the alarm counter did sound due to a faulty door system lock, did he check the wiring at the a-pillar or b-pillars of that lock to see if corosion is present? what faults did he have for the airbag? if it was a door airbag, maybe this would be a dead giveaway on where to start diagnosis. as the system lock that may have triggered the alarm could be on the same door as the airbag fault? Has the vehicle been in an accident? or maybe the vehicle has a history of clogged sunroof drains at the front of the vehicle where water likes to corrode the connectors for the a-pillar and lamp module.

The vehicle hasn't been in an accident. I going to take it back to him this week and find out what's really is going on.
