So I found out what the leak was. I took the X to a shop that I've been to before to have them check for the leak. It's a free service so I figured if nothing else they could help me diagnose and I can make the repairs. Came away with the oil filter housing leaking, the oil cooler/lines leaking, the power steering pump/hoses leaking and a crack in the expansion tank. All of which I had suspected but wanted confirmation. Now I wil be replacing all of those and probably some other problem areas while I have everything apart. I figured I would do the vanos line while I was in there and the radiator hoses but what else? Anything else I should do while I'm that deep? So one weekend I'll be fixing the leaks and another the suspension. Busy time ahead of me!

Kindly, Was the original issue in the post ever resolved? Wheel Baring, CV Joint, etc?

Yes it was, sorry for not ever updating. It was fixed after I swapped out the axle so it was the cv joint on the axle.

Thankyou! Much appriciated. I took a chance and did my cv last night as well. That was an easy job after review of a few YouTube videos by Nathan's Garage and the 50s kid on e53 cv joint replacment. It took all of 45 minutes. Glad to have it quiet again.
