Clicking when turning left

I've done some searching but couldn't really find anything difinitive. My 2003 X5 3.0i has started clicking from the left front whenever I turn left. It only does it when I turn left and only on the left side. I've read some people say the axle, some say the sway-bar links but Idk. I've looked and the boots on the axles both look good and can't see any abnormal wear or anything on the sway bar end links either. The car has about 98000 miles now so I know things are starting to wear out and am ready to replace whatever it is that needs to be, but I don't want to just start replacing parts without knowing what has the highest possibility of correcting it. Thanks for the help everyone.

Sound like it could be the CV joint. Did you ever have the boot rip?

Boots have never ripped and haven't ever lost any grease. I had thought it was more likely the axle but wasn't sure. Is the stealership the best place to get the axles or is there somewhere else to get a quality part from that ya'll would recommend. Thanks for the quick responses too.

It could most likely be your CV joint but, it could possibly be the wheel bearing as well.

Bavauto, ecs tuning, getrealbmwparts.com
Check the production date of your vehicle. Pre 4/2001 have different axles.

Awesome, thank you. I assume since mine is a 2003 mine has the newer ones but I'll check just to make sure.

I've had the same clicking noise on mine for about 1 year now. If you get it fixed, let me know what it was..

I'll definately post up when I fix it. I was thinking the axle before hand but now I'm pretty sure. Either way I'll post up what I did and what the end result was.

Jamie: I would be very interested in hearing what you find out; our X-5 is making identical noise under similar circumstances. Thanks!
