another V10

I recently had the pleasure of driving a tractor company-inspired V10 in another vehicle; the same engine that launched in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4; The 2011 AUDI R8 V10 Quattro! at 525hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, this car is supercar sick!

My friend traded in his Z06 Corvette and couldn't wait to show me what this AUDI beast could do.... Halfway through a high-speed backroad pass, he offers to let me drive. Out of concern that we may not make it back to his house if he continued to show off it's cornering ability and half out of sheer excitement, I quickly said "YES!"

Almost nothing can compare to the thrill of riding a superbike at speed on Road-Atlanta, VIR, Homestead or Loudon (done that), but this AUDI R8 is quite close. When we returned from our test ride, I staggared from behind the wheel of the R8 and found myself shaking from the thrill.

Once I got back into my 340hp 4.6is, it felt as if I had been robbed! The X5's V8 felt more like a 4-cylinder by comparison to the mighty AUDI. I may never be the same...

BTW.... I had a similar experience in an '08 M5 as a passenger about a month ago. What a great car. I am going to have to pony up soon!

Yeah, the R8 is a nice piece of machinery.... I thought it was about time Audi made a top end sports car, and they delivered nicely!

The R8 is my daughter's favorite car. And I agree they sure look great. I give Audi credit they are making some very nice looking rigs lately.

They're moving up in the world, that's for sure. They've gone from being comparable with VW to comparable with BMW on a few models.

weasel, audi is vw and has always competed with bmw. the E90 M3 is a joke compared to an RS4. the V-10 S6 easily hangs all day long with an E60 M5.

the B5 S4 twin turbo could easily hang with an E36 M3.
the B6 V8 had more hp and torque and could roast an E46 M3 out of the hole.

audi is the same customer that buys a bmw. the RS4 is an absolute beast that has no rivals for the price point. i'd love to own an audi but if you think bmw's are a lot of maintenance..........think again.

while i was in the market for my X, i looked at a couple of Q7s. i'd have to say, it has a much softer ride than my X, but than again, my X has the sport suspension.
Other than that, it doesnt feel like a sporty SUV, more like a AWD somewhat luxury Minivan.
But now a days, i would get a RS4 over a M3.

Ok, I see the problems with that last post of mine, I guess I really never looked that closely at Audi's from the past decades... but the ones I had experience with from within the last decade just seemed lack luster to me... didn't impress me much. Guess they just weren't the right models!
