the dreaded lurch ...again, but please read

how cool is this, my car doesn't do the lurch anymore, its fixed.

i complained bitterly to my BMW service centre, from whom i purchased the car, and they said they could take a look.

when i picked it up they were busy and didnt comunicate in any detail to me about there findings, just to see how it goes.

this was a few months ago (previously posted about) anyway i,m here to tell you they have fixed it.

now when i slow to a stop there is no lurch at all, and if i slow to a halt and ever so slightly am rolling forward all i feel is a gentle shift into 1st gear.

ok all good, but now for me anyway, here comes the really interesting part.

when i purchased the car, 2005 3.0d auto i was clearly made aware that while it was a 6 speed auto, it would only use 5 gears in sport or manual mode, i.e. it would not shift into 6 gear, in fact there were only 5 gears displayed on the instrument panel.

i dont generally use the sport or manual modes so hadn't paid much attention to it, except that is for today when huh now i have a 6th gear displayed and i can, in manual mode shift all the way up to and including 6th gear wow

the dealer has to have done a software upgrade,

so looks like there is hope after all at least for diesels.

unless of course the dealer has done his own software, which i very much doubt.

so for me at least all ends well, just turned 100,000 km and couldn't be happier with my X
