Gunmetal Wheels? It's almost unanimous!!!

Here is a pic of my vette for reference on color contrast that I think looks nice:

And there is even more contrast when you see it in person vs. the photo too.
C4racer; This is the color combination I'm talking about!!!

Great responses from all! I thought I would take a moment to chime in..... From the beginning, I would have agreed with (sundayjumper and romeokc10); that is to say that I was not a fan of black/dark wheels. To me, either the look was too much like a cheap car sans hubcaps or someone neglected to clean the brake dust off their wheels.

.....But now, the gray wheels are really starting to grow on me. (especially after seeing the Black/Gray combo on my friend's $177k 2011 Audi R8 V10!!!)

In general, think BMWs look best when wearing agressively styled BMW wheels. (I don't care for aftermarket wheels, no matter how expensive they are!). I was also beginning to tire of the 87's myself because everybody had them... however, BMW hit a homerun with their design of the 87 and for that reason, I keep going back to the them. IMHO, there is simply no better looking wheel suited for the X5.... which brings me to the facelift question;

Would 87's look out of place on a facelift? ...and would a 4.6is look out of place with a facelift?

Food for thought... OK, back to the poll;

Facelift? Mixed reviews so far
AERO Kit? C'mon... Doesn't anyone like the aero kit?
Gray 87's? Mostly YES!

Thanks for the video!...That's one of the SWEETEST X5s I have ever seen!!!

I always view mine while it is parked. If I were to see it in motion, maybe it would give me an entirely new perspective?

Given the opportunity I would probably go with a facelift. It's almost like getting a different car (or girlfriend lol). It will be new and exciting for you. I probably prefer the original look a little more but that's just me but both look great.

I'm not sure about the aero kit - I would skip it. Does this include the fender flares? Would like to see a side by side comparison.

The Ferric gray is great I may go for this myself. Seems a tad darker than gunmetal but not as dark as black. I'm torn between one of those and the gloss black (to match the Jet Black body paint). I don't think anyone has done it on a E53 w/Style 87's. Pretty sure it will look absolutely sick and it would be fairly unique. The look that seems to be in is the flat/matte black which I'm not sure I like as much as something with at least a little gloss (semi-gloss). I'm wondering how any of these will look with my stock chome trim (might have to switch that out - seems like it would be a bitch).

Oh yeah and sorry for sort of stealing your post but my poll is specific to only rims!

--Peace

Okay I've watched the video four times, what am I missing? It looks like any X5 with style 87 wheels we've seen here on the site, the only thing I see different are the fog lights, is that the aero kit everybody is talking about, what is the aero kit?

In priority order
1.YES-Ferric 87s
2.YES-Aerokit
3.YES-Facelift
All free if you can .The ferric 87s,with facelift and Aerokit ..perfect.

Personally ,I dont think the aerokit in photos does it justice!Real life,it looks great ,especially in black ,it doesnt look so bulgy and blends in nicely.
With the ferric 87s its perfect.
You just need to look at the Russian movie of a black X5 with aerokit!
