Car trouble...Please help.

Hey guys, have been experiencing some problems with my 2003 BMW X5 3.0i and I was hoping you guys might have some insight.

Whenver I hit the gas from a complete stop my car is making a ticking sort of noise. I feel some vibration in the peddle. Recently however, I have noticed that I get that some noise when Im already in hwy speeds and hit the gas.

I searched the forums and from what I could gather it sounds like it might be the CV Joint.

I have an appointment today at my local independent BMW shop. I guess I'd like to know if anyone has had a similar situation, and if so what the outcome was, and how much you ended up paying to have your X5 fixed.

Are you getting any codes? SES light? It could be a number of things. I had somewhat similar symptoms, accompanied by loss of power, and it turned out to be a blown head gasket and cracked head. Not cheap.
