Radio / Audio No response
Hi all,
I have the factory Head unit with LCD monitor and premium DSP audio. While listening to radio this afternoon, it suddenly lost the audio. - pressing the "Mode" button has no response, doesn't switch to tape / CD / Radio - pressing the Audio On/Off button (the round knob on the right) has no response, doesn't switch On/Off - the "DSP" on the main menu sometimes go dim, some times normal - switching off the car for a while doesn't help. Everything else on the head unit / computer works fine; just the radio / audio part if not responding Any suggestion of what might have caused this? Thanks in advance. Simon

Thanks for the info.
I tried the "1-Wait, 2-Wait" start up sequence, but it didn't help. And I also notice it takes slightly longer time (a few seconds) for the computer / head unit to boot up. I'll check the fuses and try disconnecting the battery tonight and see how it goes. Thanks.

simonpcw- Just an FYI, after the Radio issues (which i never had again) my battery eventually died (Sub: X5 Dead), so maybe it's worth looking into the battery as well, did you have any issues with starting the car so far?

Thanks again for the heads up.
Dis & Reconnecting the battery did fix the radio / audio issue. However, the X5 wouldn't start up normally. Upon ignition, the engine would start, but it would not hold unless I keep pressing the fuel pedal. As soon as I let it go, the engine would stop. Not sure if it's to do with the battery level, but I seem to remember that this had happened before when the battery went low a while back. Anyway, the car is at the workshop now and hopefully it's something simple. Thanks again for the tips.

Hi Simoncpw - I faced similar issue as well, upon changing the battery i've not had that issue again, however there are multiple threads here saying the starting issue could be for various reasons.....ignition,injectors...(some one explained it saying there is unburnt gasoline which is why it only starts once the gas pedal is pressed, search for keyword....cranking endlessly).
In my case, all i do is not switch off the engine as soon as i stop, I let it run for a min or so and then switch it off...not sure if it does anything but i have not had that issue since battery was replaced. |
