harmonic balancer

hello, does the center hut have to come off on a 02 4.4i? Im having trouble getting it off after the a 10mm bolts. thanks guys.

Nope...just the 10 mm bolts are holding it down...I usually tap it with a hammer with a piece of wood in between.

torque specs

First i had to use a puller to get the balancer off. next i'm having trouble tightening these bolts to 74 ft. lbs. snapping very easily.

I think they are meant to be used only once and 74 ft lbs sound like a lot. Search for threads about water pump replacement, I think the spec was in a couple of threads and there is a diy artice on here I believe.

well I think the diy article on the water pump has the wrong info for tightening these 8 bolts. They are supposed to be 22nm. A very good instruction otherwise.
