Unfortunately the center bearing is pretty hidden from sight, you gotta lower the exhaust and remove the aluminum heat shielding to see it... pretty much takes either bringing it to a shop or having access to a rack to confirm that it's the problem.

I was serious when I said 98 deg. F was a cool weekend.

What frequency does the vibration happen, meaning does it seem to follow wheel speed or is it a slower speed that feels more like the whole vehicle is drunk/wobbly for a second at a time?
It is wheel speed related and shows up mostly at 45mph on up. 65mph - 75mph it is for sure there. I did have a vibration under deceleration (no brakes, just coasting at about 65 - 45) today. Hadn't really noticed that before. It is clearly felt in the steering wheel, not so much in the butt which keeps me pointed towards the front driveline/suspension, right?

I think I need to closely look at the CPO warranty coverage and make an appointment...

If you have CPO coverage then yeah, just bring it in and let them diagnose it. If it is only in the front it could be an axle... but nothing beats a physical diagnosis.

Set up for an 845am appointment on Friday. Let's hope for the best as I leave for DC in the X5 the end of the month. It'll annoy me all the way there and back. By the time I drive back the CPO warranty and the Maintenance Plan the previous owner bought will have expired!

If it was wheel balance it would happen constantly at speed, not just under braking. If the rotors etc are new it isn't likely that either. It is not uncommonly caused by slack in the ball joint ends of the lower control arms. I just changed my front lower control arms today for this problem, now she drives like a new car.

Weasel I just noticed a post of yours mentioning something about the vibration, saying whether the car feels like its drunk/wobbly for a second at a time, and that's exactly how mine is!! You couldn't of described my symptoms any better than that! What does that point to? Cheers

What year is your X again? If it is an 04 and up with x-drive it could be the transfer case. With this particular problem with the t-case when you are cruising stead around 40-45ish it will have this "drunk, wobbly" feel every few seconds. If this is what you're feeling you can unplug the electric motor on the transfer case, if it stops doing it the case has worn parts and needs to be replaced. But note that unplugging it will cause DSC faults that will need GT1 clearing.
