i had shaking when breaking did lots of things
replaced warped rotors, did balancing several times, checked wheels, wheel alignment
well the frond caliper had a cracked seal on it... replaced brake caliper with a rebuild one (105$CAD was happy to see that price) That was the reason my rotors warped , pads are nearly brand new and rotors were also

My vibration solved: upper transmission mount

My 2005 X5 exhibited vibration cruising from around 50 to about 70 MPH and it would get worse on braking at those speeds (steering wheel got pretty jumpy). Have had upper and lower control arms replaced as well as thrust arm bushing. Still presented as above. Local indie shop (Ace Auto, Norwalk CT) diagnosed as transmission mount. New tires at the same time were mounted and balanced. X5 feels like new with 164k miles. Hope this helps.

What sort of "test" or inspection led them to the transmission mounts? I'm curious if it's something I can inspect.

I am having similar issues when braking I have owned the do for 6 years and do all the work with the help of this forum. I just recently replaced cv boot on drivers side and noticed the rotor or wheel hub is loose in the spindle. My guess is a wheel bearing. The rotor/ hub has too much slop. Any ideals?

just posted on your other thread. Its most likely worn suspension components, or could be a worn/seized caliper like above.

I did my wheel bearings over the summer and they did not vibrate while braking when bad, they just made a HORRENDOUS noise over 40 mph, thats it. you probably have worn parts on your suspension, start shaking your control arms and checking bushings and ball joints for cracks and play.
