I remember the aux heating kit was about £350 as a factory option but I'm guessing it's a whole lot more than that now!

I think the telestart kit was £395 and it`s dead easy to fit.

guys, how does it affect the battery? we all know that colder it gets out there, weaker the battery gets. it was -25 this winter here in moldova and my x5 3.0d started only from the second time. my concern here is will webasto drain my battery to a limit where i will be unable to start the car?

Answer 1: Yes it could drain your battery but only if you hardly run your car. Under normal daily use it`s just fine, it`s a diesel heater, the the only electric use if the pump that circulates the water around the engine and the blowers in the car.

Answer 2: I have used the remote in a shopping mall, the car was TWO floors down in the car park and I was in the cafe. I held the remote upright and pressed, it didnt hear it the first time but got it the second. There was a massive distance between me and the car not to mention concrete and steel structures.

Webasto has different remotes/receivers to control the aux heater.
My X5 3.0d is equipped with the T70 remote which just sends a signal to the (T70) receiver (no feedback).
The T80 remote will do the same but also gets a signal back from the (T80) receiver in the car indicating that the aux heater is working.
Now they came out with the T100HTM (www.wohlfuehlklima.de/v_products/t100_en.php).
The receiver is located next to the car battery below the spare wheel in a plastic frame containing several modules.
Mine has 2 connectors, 1 for the antenna and 1 with 3 wires.

Im just looking in my X5 BMW accessories brochure and it states in there that the parked car heating kit if only for X5 3.0d.

I love mine, one of the best mods I`ve ever done, the wife uses it everyday (when it`s cold of course).

Hi,

I've just picked up my X5 and it has the remote aux heater, I tried it the other morning as per the manual, held down the green key and contact with the car was made as the green LED kept flashing every second or so, after about 30mins I turned it off but when I got in the car it didn't feel that warm.

My question is, how warm should it be, does the outside temperature have to be below a centain level? admitadly it wasn't very cold the morning I tried it.

Anyone help?

My best advice is for you to turn thr heater on via remote, wait 15mins, walk up to the car and listen. You should hear a faint humming sound and don't be suprised if you hear a little backfire from the small exhuast pipe under the drivers door The car temperature should also be set to a higher temp than outside. Remember, webasto will not turn on if outside temp is above 16 degrees celcius.
