Windows Set-up?

Hello chaps!

I just put new door trim clips in on my drivers door today as it was rattling and driving me nuts! All sorted now.

Anyhoo, after I put it back together I tried closing the window with the one-touch and it didn't work, I had to hold it down to make the window go up all the way. The one-touch works for 'down', but not up. Also, the other 3 windows don't work at all!

FYI I had the window fully down when I disconnected and re-connected the window module. Could this be the reason-should the window be in the fully 'up' position when re/disconnecting the module?

Just wondering if there is a windows set-up procedure I can try, like there is on mercs, or am I going to have to pull the door trim off again?

Thanks

Not sure about the X5, but on my M3, when this happens, I push the windows down switch and continue to hold it down for about 10 seconds after the window is fully down.

You're back !

I can't remember the procedure but I remember having to reset the windows on my Dad's E39 years ago. Chances are the E53 is the same. Having said that, three of the windows being totally dead doesn't sound good. I think the E39 had just lost the one-touch function but was otherwise OK.

They don't unlock from their window seperate window switch? The drivers side may have broken... or bad connection... It might have bad connection inside window switch, happened to me.

Yes SD, I'm back, been extremely busy! Hope your X is doing ok!

Nik, yes it was a bad connection. I had a look last night and pulled the unit out of the door and had a look at the pins and wiring, which looked as though there was nothing wrong with either. So I re-connected them again and wriggled the wiring to see if there were any breaks, and pushed down hard on the connector blocks...Bingo, the larger of the 3 (with 4 wires) was dodgy!

There was nothing obvious, in fact it all looked like new.. Anyway, with nothing other than to push down hard on the block (even after it had clicked home) it was all working again. So I carefully put it all back together and it all works again. I'll only re-new/look at a more solid fix at some point if it plays up again.

I've done the door carrier and now door trims, so the next time I need to take the door trim off and disturb the connections is when the door regulator goes, right?!!

Thanks for the input gents, as always, much appreciated.
