general module acting up, replaced but still no power steering?

A few months ago my wife's cousin jump started her 4.8is but swapped the red/black cables and right after the doors wouldn't lock/unlock properly and sometimes there would be no power steering.

So I recently replaced the General module and resynced my keys. All is well as the seat memory is back and the door lock/unlock properly. Except the powersteering does not come on. I was told that the GM controls the servotronic and I even checked the fuse for the servotronic and it was ok. Are there any other relays I should swap out to resolve this issue?

TIA!

Yes, just as I suspected, the GM failed (or rather became unreliable as it worked sometimes, but more often than not). Replaced it with an exact match part from eBay and that restored the key functions like locking and unlocking. However, it needed to be coded at the dealer to the VIN and key memory had to be optioned. Otherwise, the car is back to normal. The powersteering was not restored until after the coding session. I guess it is in the default off (failsafe mode) until programmed.

Great! The reason I was asking is I believe my power steering is not what it should be, here's my deal. I picked up a 2002 4.6is in November from an auto auction, when I got it the first thing I noticed was that the remote key didn't work and neither did the inside lights. After a search here on the forum I knew it had to be the GM, as luck would have it I found one locally from an'02 4.4i with the exact same part number.
After installing it, unlike yourself I programmed the remote key on my own following the steps in that key fob thread, everything worked, key fob, lights, etc. But when I went to drive it for the fist time the first thing I noticed was how stiff the power steering was, it was working but a lot stiffer than before. I knew the 4.6is came with a different steering setup than the 4.4i but I wasn't sure if the GM had anything to do with the power steering.
Well your thread confirms that it indeed does control the power steering, the 4.6is came with some kind of electric assist or something, so no surprise the 4.8 has it also, my question to you is was your steering like mine, working but stiffer than before after you swapped out the module?

JT and/or Romeo did either of you guys get the power steering fixed yet?
And if so, what was it? I'm having all the same issue with locking and unlocking, I'm sending my GM3 in for repair today so since it's being repaired I don't think I'll have to reprogram anything but I am hoping my power steering gets fixed. Mine has some assist but it's super tough. And while driving sometimes it easier than others to turn. Weird.
Also,... Did any of you guys experience this. Sometimes I'd get into my car (if I left it unlocked and disarmed) and when I'd go to start it nothing would work. No dome light no nothing. Key fob wouldn't work either to lock or unlock the car. If I'd wait around for 5-10 minutes everything would power back on on it own, or if I'd disconnect the battery.
Weirder.
I'm hoping all that fixes and goes away with this GM3 repair.
