ECU needs remapping/reprogramming after a Camshaft Sensor replacement on pre1/1/2001?
I remember reading that post 1/1/2011 ECUs did not need reprogramming.

it will tell you with the camshaft sensor replacement box it came with if the software needs to be updated.

E53 (04/00 to 01/01) is listed there. This leads me to believe any crankshaft sensor (including OEM) may need to be reprogrammed.

That was a sib for crankshaft sensor. Not a camshaft sensor. Make up your mind!

FYI for all,
Third party BMW service center reset the ECU using their software free and all is well. All codes gone and Transmission shifts fine now....took all of 5 minutes.
