Anyway I also discussed engine remapping while there and he said he does it himself!!! I have known him for years and he strikes me as someone capable of making the analysis etc, he said he has done over 500 cars so far, anyways he recons he can get me another 40 BHP and extra economy on Diesel for 300 Euros and I get the X back the same day, so I am definitely gonna do some more research and get back to him on that one.

What are your views on remapping Powers1? Does it sound like a good deal?
Sorry !I am standing back in amazement with time period of the work done in your car!Ok..lets recap here, you were going to order a turbo from UK on Friday and today ,just 1 working day after and you have the turbo already fitted in your car..Unbelievable
My views on re-mapping ,well what can I say!I am a bit bias, really since I been doing re-maps on a daily basis for the last 6 years or so
Yes!But make sure its a specific re-map for your car done by someone who knows what they are doing and NOT someone who reads the file off your car then sends it to someone else, who then sends back a modded "common" file.
300-350.00 euros is about what I charge in Portugal ,In Uk ,we charge £350.00(about €400.00)so,the price you were quoted is a good deal.
You say that he can get an extra 40 bhp, which is safe but what about the torque, which is more important for the sake of autobox reliability.
One other thing! Was the price of the oil €50.00 and what brand???????

He told me 3 days initially, as he didn't know what option I would choose, but apparently he had reconditioned turbos in stock, I guess he had sent a few busted Turbos to the U.K. in the past in order to have a few on the shelves The X was actually ready last Friday Afternoon, I told him in the morning to fit a reconditioned, so he did everything in about 7 hours!!!

I will type out the receipt when I get home, there wasn't much on it. I do think the oil was 50 Euro though, Oil is cheap here though being close to the natural sources. (I will look into it)

My Indy Specialises in BMW's and is called "MPower" 70% of his jobs are BMW's the other 30% know him as one of the best mechanics in Cyprus. I I'm sure he will do a good job on the remap (He said he is part of some team whatever that means).

I'm no pro but he did show me the old turbo and the inside was rattling around and this must have been what caused that horendous blade slashing sound on startup.

Oil wasn't on the invoice, a little strange, but it's working fine, yes.

The Turbo came from England and was a reconditioned model, my guess is the mechanic has stock of these so he can get cars out of his garage quickly, my busted one probably be sent to England now and will end up in the next blown fellas X that has a blown turbo.
