Water pump gasket on X5 3.0 - 2001
I noticed that the new water pump I ordered did not come with a gasket but with an O-ring installed. On 4.4i model, the water pump comes with both. Is one not required for the 6 cylinder?

What condition is the rest of your cooling system in? If my pump failed and I had the original hoses, thermostat, thermostat housing, belts and associated tensioners etc I would be changing everything at the same time. A good indy should be able to do this at a more affordable rate and you could buy the parts at Bavauto or Pelican or the like.
For a $tealer: Bring and extra arm and leg as you ill be leaving one of each with them!!!
