Blown engine antifreeze in cylinders (looking to sell)
Once at the indy shop I watched them diagnose. When doing compression check antifreeze shot 10 feet in the air during crank out of a couple cylinders. So engine is dead. Get this. The shop replaced the alternator the day before but swears it's not related. (3.0 non water cooled alternator). They offered half price labor on a engine swap if i want ($50 an hr 20 hrs). So 1000 in labor plus 3000 for the engine with a 1 yr warranty. Looking to sell instead. 3.0 with sport package. Body in great shape. 180k miles. any advice and offers. In Baltimore, MD area. It is a 2001 Last edited by Jhodor; 06-08-2011 at 09:31 AM. Reason: add content |

i assume that your car is in excellent condition besides blown engine. realistically how much do you want for the car as is?

My friend Audi 1.8T blown a timing belt, the engine swap cost (labor and engine) was $3500, and that was 3-4 years ago; I doubt you'll see significant saving by going to another shop, but won't hurt to try. Makes me wonder if that mantra rings true, "never own a BMW out of waranty"
