Does anyone find it interesting that they changed the alternator the day before the engine blew. Shop offered half price on labor as a sorry for your loss jesture and being a long time customer but did not agree anything was related. I know I won't get a better price anywhere. best case is 3500 for engine replacement. The wife is more interested in selling as is.

By the way fault codes showed bad thermostat.

get this, I was selling Audi brand new suspension parts online for under $300; a scammer contacted me through email saying he'll pay for it using cashier check and getting a courier set up to pick it up. I just can't believe someone is going to scam me off $300 buck, but yes they do (go figure). So yes proceed with cautions selling anything online or Craigslist, you don't know who is out there.

someone put it in analogy: Craigslist is like a public bathroom if you don't touch nothing suspect you'll come out squeaky clean. I'm paraphrasing

talking to them on the phone, and using wire transfer, and having a hold time are all common precautions.

Not a big fan of Paypal (they charge too much fees) but it's the other safe alternative that both parties tend to accept; that's what I ended up doing for that Audi part, FYI.

I'd put in the new motor and keep driving it -- for 7 grand (what the car's worth plus what it will take to fix it) you aren't going to find anything close to as nice. Plus, you'll have a new motor that should not cause any issues for years.
