MKlll to MKlV conversion question?

I have a MKlll nav unit and am looking to upgrade to a MKlV. My buddy might be going aftermarket and thus I would inherit his. My question is, can I just swap the cd unit for the dvd unit? Or are the head units different as well and would require a swap? I thought maybe I read some where that the MKlV unit has additional ports for adding an auxillary port. I guess I'm confused to as what is needed to do the swap. I assume the existing wire harness is plug and play. Any help would awesome. I know some of you guys know your stuff frontwards and backwards.
