LED Footwells
ive searched xoutpost, bimmerforums and bimmerfest and noticed that no one has done LED footwells.guess its more of a japanese car driver thing.Anywayz hopefully i was able to say i was the first to do it in an X5 or be one of the few that already have. I have already put it the order for the kit from this site.
LED Interior Lighting Kit - Starter I choose the 2pc red ones for a few reasons.1 its my first time doing this so i didn't want to spend money on a 4pc.2.i choose red to match the dash lights at night.3.i couldn't think of a good place to mount the rear ones and i didn't wan't people kicking them around in the back. if anyone asks ill do a photo buy photo DIY on it.like i said i have zero experience doing this but i am determined to get it done.hopefully everything works out well. |

I have cool white led's in my footwells as well as the rest of the interior. Looks great and there is plenty of light.

done.i have to admit the wiring it 100% ricey.i installed it such that i would be able to remove everything easily.once i get some info on how to remove the interior trim pieces, ill be able to make it look much more professional.was thinking about mounting the switch in the ashtray.ive noticed people have done that when they install alpines. ill see if i can ask around

thinking about hiding that mess of wires under the panel they're sitting on and just run the switch and connector to sit on that panel on the upper left side.

----UPDATE----
The previous setup had too much rice and not enough nice.i moved the wires behind the carpeted floor panel.i also found a suitable ground there so i moved it to that location as well.sorry about the pics.if u turn ur head so ur fourhead points to the left, that is what it actually looks like in the car.when i removed that carpeted panel i found what looks like a tunnel that goes into the passenger side footwell.im thinking about moving the wire i have running under the ac controls there.only thing is i dont know for sure if its a tunnel and it will be hard getting it to the other side, and into the glove box which is what i tapped into for the power source |

-----UPDATE----
Previous wiring setup became a failure.my cuzin managed to completely pull down the wiring so i came up with a semi final solution.i hid all the wires under the carpet panels and used that little tunnel/chamber i mentioned earlier.turns out it does go through to the other side.i also moved the switch to the glove box so its more descrete.since im sending this from my ipod ill have to upload the pics some other time |
