Usual suspect is the rear sunroof drains either clogged or unhooked from the sunroof cassette... the water just runs down the headliner/d-pillar cover and drips on the amp. There are a few threads on this for the E53, maybe track down some of the threads as I believe some had pics and all.

I checked all the conections to the Amp and they look fine. The battery compartment and stereo was dry and the wiring looks fine. The bluetooth attached to the amp was hot after driving? But no sound from speakers. I suppose the blue tooth is fried as well? Any advise on how to remove and replace the amp, I'm thinking about hitting E bay for a used one. The good news...the cobia bite is on fire off of the Cape Canaveral North Shoals.....

i don't know whether or not it was really "necessary".. /shrug.. but i took all the other electronics out of that metal rack that the amp is mounted to, seemed to make it easier, then I simply unbolted the frame. All of the nuts and bolts take a 10mm socket, i think there was two on the bottom, one on the side down low, one up high, and one that mounted to the back towards the hatch. (sorry, didn't think to take any pics of them when i did mine)
There is three connectors with wiring harness going into it, you can't screw them up because they only fit one way. Although the big one is a major PITA. There is no unlocking it, you just have to force it. I alternated from one side to the other using a screw driver and a hammer tapping on it till it came undone. Then unbolt the amp from the from the frame after i got the whole mess out. |
