4.8is or m6

Would anyone even consider trading their x5 4.8is for a m6?

I have an 06 4.8is with 40k miles. Neighbor loves my car he wants to give me his m6 with 55k miles on it. difference in cars is up in the air for me, i have never driving an m6 to be able to compare. anyone want to give me some opinions. thanks much appreciated.

Different in every aspect. The ///M6 will be much more fun to drive (depending on the tranny). You will loose all the utility comforts you have grown to love about the X. Gas mileage in a V10....will you know the answer to that. Drive the ///M6 and you decide.....Phil

yea it only makes logical sense to test drive the car. Just wanted to see if anyone had both cars in the past to be able to give me some pointers. I will be giving up alot if i get the m6, comfort and room. might be a fun car to drive but well see. and is there much difference between an older m6 like an 04-07 and a 2010 version besides facelifts..

M6 = Fun time / weekend car.
4.8is = more day-to-day driving and a semi-hauler.

Is the M6 a post LCI?

I had an M6 and loved it. It was a lease, so I had to give it back. I tracked it and drove it pretty hard, but it never let me down. While it is not a true track car due to it's weight, nothing could touch it on the straights, but miatas catch you in the corners. Owning an M car can be expensive and I wouldn't want to own one off warranty or without maintenance. Tires are $2K for 4 corners and brake job is probably the same. Also, the SMG can be annoying. It is jerky until you really figure out how it likes to be shifted.

Trade him for 6 months, have some fun and go back to the X5. Your neighbor will probably want the same.

If you do so, be careful. It can get you in trouble real fast with an 8K redline. I remember the night I drove it home, I got on the highway and got on it. I was doing 120 in 3rd gear before I knew it. Luckily, I only got one ticket in 2 years of ownership.

The dead give away of a pre or post LCI are headlights. Im not sure what other things define a post LCI 6-er in terms of electronics though.

Years:
Pre: 04-07 (06-07 for M6)
Post LCI: 08-10

Pre LCI:
