Did you notice any difference with the AFE intake in performance or was it just the sound improvements? How much are you looking to get for it?

So as i'm getting the x5 ready for the new owner....the battery light comes on yesterday.....driving it in to the shop today....on the way there, about 2 mins from the place...everything starts lighting up, abs light, airbag light.....trans failsafe program....
you got to be kidding me right.....alternator!!!!!! Argh!!!!!
It was replaced exactly 1.5 years ago....can an alternator really fail after that short of time?

I guess we don't need to ask why you are selling it, eh?

I recently sold my 4.6is and replaced it with a new Mazda CX9. It's nowhere near as much fun to drive, but it rides very nice and has a very roomy and useful interior capable of seating 7 reasonably sized people. So for what it is, it fit the bill for us as our weekend family car and the daily driver for my wife for her school lunch business and carpool for our highschool age kids. So far it seems to be getting 20-25% better mpg vs. the 4.6is which is not as good as I expected, but then again it doesn't have 1K miles on it yet and should get better with more break-in.

dont be so quick to think alternator. it could be the abs control module.
if you can't have an indy put it on the computer, you can unplug it and if all the symptoms go away, you can be pretty sure that is the problem. it is located behind the drivers side headlight.
