Rivets - running boards installation
So this is the stupid question of the day: - How do I remove the rivets? Just ply out and brake them with a screwdriver? Any advice will be highly appreciated. THX. |

You can use a nail or anything with a round tip that'll fit the hole and punch it out...

Since the rivets are not reusable anyway, it's much easier just drilling out the center pin.

The advice by TQTK is how its normally done! You use a nail on the middle on the rivet and punch the middle pin out (dont worry, the rivets are not re-useable) .You then still have to "yank out" the rivet head, using cutting pliers. You can just jack up the wheels ,no need to remove them!On the lower rear plastic trims, instead of using an expanding rivets, where you will need a rivet gun,you simply just use push in rivets .using 2 of the spares you will removing from the plastic trim under the aluminium boards. Drilling ,in my opinion,is not a good idea! You will have to remove all wheels ,risk widening the rivet holes and drilling through your wheel pastic covers.. |
