Your main concern should be that it is a full synthetic (ie Castrol Syntec, not Syntec Blend), in the correct viscosity, and that it be rated API SM. Can't tell what the Reilly house brand oil is rated, and they don't list it. I know that Syntec has been renamed, I am not sure what they are calling it now.
Any name brand oil is going to be fine. I don't think any of the next tier brands (Royal Purple, Amsoil, Lucas) offer any advantage to you.

If you've reached 170K and plan to keep going, consider a 5K - 6K oil change interval (7.5K with BMW oil).

ok,i have changed my oil last night with the one from the bmw dealer,
i have asked for 8 qt. plus a filter and the guy said ,that i need 9 qt.,so i purchased 9 qt. (also he said that the bmw oil is made by castrol) anyway i come home change my oil ,change filter, then i check the oil it was fine,i run the x5 for 5-10 minutes, then i let it cool for few hours, comeback checked again now with 9 qt in and if i look on the dipstick is at half way between the min and max, normally i like it to be closed to max... but i had little problem ,after i drain the oil ,when i put the screw in ,it went in okay, for a little bit,and then it got harder little,so i put my tool on it,and turn it,and when i got to the end ,i had this filling that will not get tighten ,so i took the oil pan screw back out and then is all this small metal pices's on the screw, and i was like! what?!... i look it inside oil pan tread ,and the inside the tread was allmost gone, but more in was okay,so i got a longer bolt from kragen o'railly m12 1.50mm i put it in and all is okay now, man they did those oil pans in a joke!,aluminium instead of metal witch is better!, now can anyone tell me what the torque should be on that bolt? thanks,
