Comfort Seats

I just ordered my 05 4.4i. I want the Comfort Seats bout was told by the dealer that the car is already under production and that can't be done. Does anyone know if the dealer can install the comfort seats after the car is built and if so How much are they - I know they are 1200 dollars from the factory but I don't know how much they will be if I have the dealer put them in.

Comfort Seats are worth it

I have the comfort seats on my 2001 4.4i and do not regret opting for them.

I believe that a retro installation is very problematic and costly. Tell the dealer you want them, even if your car is already in production, and that you'll take the next X5 in line for production that is "unclaimed" and modifiable. I did this several times on my X5, even rejecting one which was delivered without the wide screen nav which I had specifically delayed my order for.

Better to delay the order than have regrets.

I just checked with the dealer - its $10,000 just for the parts (2 Comfort Seats) plus installation extra.

$10k???? If you've got that much cash lying around, cancel your 4.4 and use that as down payment on a 4.8 and stomach the increased monthly payments!

Otherwise, do the sane and reasonable thing, as suggested previously, and delay your order. From what I understand, the sport seats/regular seats vs. the comfort seats makes a pretty big difference. You don't want to regret something you could have changed just by waiting a few extra weeks for something that you'll have for years to come.

My dealer missed on comfort seats as well, and I had an email for order confirmation proof. He offered to order another X5 but I was badly in need of a car so took the car with sport seats. I regret to this day. Take the advice and re-order, even if you have to rent a car for few days.
