X5 neebie!!!

Hello everyone. My name is Jonathan, and Im new to the site and X5's. I have several questions and was wondering if I could get some help from the experts.

A little info on what I have: I just purchased a silver 2002 4.4i with 40981 miles. It was a one owner vehicle and it was not abused at all. I have also purchased a bumper to bumper warranty (24000 miles or 2 years) when I bought the BMW.

I want to know what you would recommend I do to the vehicle to start with as far as mods go. If you had to do it all over again, where would you start. Also, is there anything I need to watch out for (maintenace, repair trends, etc.)

I dont have much money at all to throw at it, so please keep that in mind when you give your thoughts. I would like to stay around a $1k to start with. Thats with me doing all the work, if thats possible.

I will be tenting the windows this weekend. I would also like to lower the vehicle. There are not allot of options I have found. Is there a list of things I need to buy to lower it.

I would like to do a 4.6 body kit, and I have found one on ebay for $600, but I dont know if it is real or junk.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Congratulations on the new ride and welcome to the site.

I have to say you got me laughing when you said "I dont have much money at all to throw at it, I would like to stay around a $1k to start with.

You do realize that you purchased a BMW right? I believe the initials stand for Bring My Wallet

I realize what I said was funny, but I dont want to spend too much not knowing what replacement parts I will need to buy out of the gate! I only want to spend the $1K towards mods. Thanks for the heads up though!

enjoy!

Welcome to the site!
Your X5 Reminds me of my first 4.4i! You will find plenty of advice and opinions here. I was tempted to lower mine, but a good friend and fellow member here talked me out of it. I think a nice set of OEM style 20's and a 4.6 front spoiler would be a nice, cost effective enhancement to start with.... I have to admit that if I had one as nice as yours, I would probably want to keep it as close to original as possible.

4.6IS body kit! Paint those door plastics to black as they were, I think. And if you'll have cash, add style 87 rims. Congrats and
