Interesting: Didn't know the 2005 came with a CD for Navigation
I have a 2005 X5. It uses a regional DVD-ROM. The latest one that I have is also regional #65 90 2 147 669 Purchased from the dealer made by NAVTEQ. Many folks have tried the burning option but without much success.
