Rear windshield lost to Irene

Hey guys so I was parked in my narrow driveway in between two houses, where I thought my car would be safest. But the hurricane found its way to my x either way.

A tree branchw went through my rear windshield and cracked the whole thing, the wiper arm seems likes its fine tho.

Here is my question to you guys, do you know if safelite can repair the rear windshield for me and if so will it look the same as the original, as dark cuz im pretty sure i have privacy glass. Or do you guys think im better of going with my bmw repair shop.

Any help and advice is really appreciated.

Thanks,
BUM

I think windshields can only be repaired if the crack is smaller than a dollar bill. But if a branch completely went through the window then you probably will have to replace it. Check the part numbers for standard and privacy glass, I'm sure the privacy class will be more expensive.

Yah, definetly know there is no hope in reparing it. My question was regarding replacing the entire window. Does anyone kno if safelite has privacy glass.

Tough luck but could be worse. I had the same thing happen a few years ago. Insurance wouldn't cover OEM (or wanted me to foot the difference) so I went aftermarket - JN Philips. I don't remember what 'brand' they used but looks exactly the same - privacy glass also.
Auto Glass, Windshield replacement, Windshield repair - JN Phillips

It's worth a call to them. they'll probably buy the glass thru bmw. hopefully your insurance is covering it. next question, like my X, did you get water in the rear? you have electronics in there. this time i only lost the radio.
