AC Air from left vent - COLD versus Air from right vent - HOT!

Hi guys, I seem to be having a problem with my AC. The air coming from the left AC vents are COLD while the air coming from the right vents are HT (or not cold). The setting on my controls are the same - both are 21 degrees Celsius (69.8 farenheit). How could this happen? A week ago, I disconnected my aftermarket radio from the harness to achieve a major memory reset. Is it possible that I have inadvertently disconnected something from the AC at the back of the radio unit? What could I have done wrong this time?

this is an indication that the a/c refrigerant circuit is low. it is completely normal for a/c systems to leak out overtime up to 30grams per year is considered normal. after 5 years of use/non use the a/c system will most likely need a recharge.

It's called Freon.

Freon is registered trademark of Dupont, Freon is considered R12 in the automotive industry. R134a is the correct refrigerant.

Will have the AC shop check my freon level 1st thing tomorrow and will update the thread. I have read on another thread that the FSR or Final Stage Resistor can also be the culprit. I'll try to DIY replace the FSR if the freon recharge does not work. Thanks guys for all the inputs on this thread!

AC Cold Air on Left AC hot Air on the right

I Took the BMW X5 To a AC Specialist workshop yesterday. I advised the service manager of the problem and asked does the AC circuit need to be cleaned. He said no it was just as simple as getting it re-gassed. So the put freeon in and it is working fine now. It cost me $12USD to refill. I am stoked it was not something worse.

There is another possible cause for this same symptom, the dual coolant valve module which is on the drivers wheel well under the hood. When one of these valves starts to act up, one side blows cold and the other does not.

Glad it was fixed with a recharge though.

Sorry, In my countery we just call all of those Freons I guess. But so do they call all copy makers Xerox's. And all SUVs are called Jeeps. Don't know funny or sad but it's true. I guess they name it after first mark seen on market.
