Cargo area lights

Is there a way to turn off the cargo area lights (the two lamps on the inside of the rear hatch) when the cargo door is open? The owner manual says these lights are discussed on page 101, but there's no mention of them on that, or apparently any other, page. I have an '03 4.4i. Thanks.

Removing fuse 27, located in the fuse box in the top of the glove compartment behind that black plastic panel, turns off all the interior lights, including the ones in the cargo area. Seems odd that you have to remove a fuse to do this, though.

Or you replace them with LEDs - they consume not as much Power as the normal bulbs and can run nearly forever. That was my approach.
