My Air suspension conversion

Well folks,

Here is my story.

My wife and I bought our first BMW...A 2003 X5 3.0i

We got it used and loved it for the first year. It had air on both axles.

After a year, the nightmare began. It all started with losing battery in winter. Then the error came up.

We went to BEECH MOTOR WORKS indy shop here in Hamilton Ontario.

They told us the conversion was not possible. They then put us through the paces....new ecu......then new compressor........then a sensor linkage broke.
Each time they hit us with a $300 diagnosis charge on top of everything else.

We had had enough.

I found a kit from STRUTMASTERS in north carolina.

Took it to AUTOBAHN GERMAN SPECIALISTS here in town and they did the install.

The proceedure to keep the error message off did not work. So i took it to our local dealership....BUDDS BMW.

The best Budds could do was recode to stop all errors in the DSC(stability control). Ours is an 03 so no module for 4x4.......however they said they were not able to get the message off.

We had the air ECU and compressor removed. They ARE for sale as they were only in our truck for about 1.5 months.

So .....our status now is the truck is safe......rides perfectly.......the stability control is fine and does not have the myriad of background internal error messages.
However the error message still appears on the instrument cluster.

i have since put together a GT1 (easy DIS) using the INPA/EDIABAS interface and confirmed it to work.

Love to know if anyone knows how to finish what Budds bmw started in removing the air error message.

PS.......did i mention I'm selling my 2 axle air module and the compressor.

There were only in the truck for a month and a half....before we said to hell with that piece of s#1t air ride.

The ecu was new from Budds bmw here in hamilton......it cost $1500........i'm selling it for $400.

The compressor was $500 from Arnott industries........i'm selling for $100

Also.....since I've now got GT1 with INPA/EDIABAS working.......i'm thinking about sellng my Bavarian Technic. Still has 2 open VINs. Make me an offer on that one.
