Speaker Sizes of Midranges
So i'm going with some Focal speakers all around - will install new amp etc and finally replace the sub (this will be for sale soon!).. So my question is what size is the midrange? I assume it's the 4" right? Yes i thought about going with BSW, but they don't provide any specs on their speakers, and when i asked them they said "it's high performance speakers" they don't provide specs. I mean, i don't see the issue with saying they are 4ohm / 8ohm, sensitivity 90db, peak power etc etc. I just don't want to hand over $600 to a company that says "don't worry about it, they're great speakers" |

I think those are technically midbass speakers. Mid ranges are in dash and rear door upper small speaker. I believe they are 4" just trying to confirm

ok - figured it out. BSW actually has their product listed for midranges @ 2.5" speakers. Maybe I'll buy just the midranges from them :-)

Yes I agree, Focals are great speakers. Can you show us the setup after all done? want to know because not only the stock speakers with DSP are soft, also because the acuostis are horrible. so much sounds are lost on prem pckg X, that can be heard on a laptop that it ruins music. Also, you are taking out DSP? and going to remove dash to replace those? Take pictures If not too much trouble.
Thanks |

Yes going to remove dsp and dash speakers. I am wondering if the 4" focals will fit, otherwise I found some DSL 2.5" speakers that have great reviews. I have a sub sitting that I haven't installed, and 2 amps that are also sitting in my basement waiting. Figured this is a good opportunity to install.
Sure will take pics. Does anyone know a good sound installer in long island or new York area? |

I have Focal 165 KF and CV1 speakers in my X. When powered well, they produce really clean mid and high range. I would highly suggest a BSW sub and a sub amp though to fill out the rest. What sub do you have?

OK - makes sense. I'm going with an alpine 300/4 for the speakers and I have an Elemental Designs 10" Sub here and the Nine.e2 amp to push it.
I think i'll go with the BSW midranges for dash and rear door (the 2.5") since at least they are plug and play. and I'll stick with a pair of focals for front 6.5" and tweeter and rear door 6.5" |

That looks great but with 2 kids in the car most of the time I will rarely appreciate the ability of what I am putting in. So I can only justify just enough to be perfect for those times I am solo.
That would be a great option if I didn't have a sub already. Even for the trunk. I just pulled the trigger on the focal 165VB for front and the 165CAI for back door. |
