Pdc problem with a difference

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help as it is starting to annoy me now! All i seem to be doing with the x is throwing money at it. I have read all about different parking sensor faults etc but none of them seem to relate to mine. Basically....
When i put it in reverse, i get a long beep then the pdc light flashes. From what i have read, this means a duff sensor, but the problem is that none of the sensors are clicking to help me find the bad one :-(
When i have been playing around to try and find the problem, i have found that when the blue plug is removed from the pdc module, all of the rear sensors are clicking but still dont work.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on the subject as it is really starting to p**s me off. I asked my local bmw btw and they wanted £75 to scan the errors and couldnt guarentee they would be able to diagnose for that price.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you are not listening close enough. Sometimes water or moisture will get into one of those sealed sensors and that would be end of that one. To hear the clicking, I used a metal screw driver close to a sensor and sure enough, the clicking is there.

Also is the long beep from the front or the back? May help you further isolate the issue.

My friend had this problem. No sensors were bad either. Check the connection of the harness to the PDC button, etc. Not sure where it is. I think near passenger footwell by FSR.. Maybe someone else can chime in

The module perhaps? clearly they can click, but don't when they're all plugged in - so its not down to you not being able to hear the click.

If they are not all plugged in, I am not surprised that the rears won't work - perhaps the problem is with the front PDC harness if its not the module?

An indy can scan it for much cheaper than BMW, my local one does it for free usually. Otherwise you are probably going to be pissing in the wind buying new parts to replace parts that may not be faulty.

The beep comes from the rear and the point i was trying to make is that with all the sensors plugged in, i get a long beep from the back and no clicking of any sensors at all. When i unplug the blue plug, the rear sensors begin to click and i get a beep from the front. If it is a dodgey front sensor i am trying to find, i cannot get them to click to see which one it is!

I don't think it's a dodgy sensor - it sounds like a harness or module problem. Hence why I say you could try swapping out sensors blindly (as you cant determine which if any is faulty) but I think it would be a waste of money.

Any ideas on how i can test the harness? Do you know what voltage etc i should see at the connector if i test with a multimeter?
Thanks

This is just my opinion, but I would just disconnect the damn things, the entire system. Now don't get me wrong, and I know what you're going say, I agree, they are nice to have. But what did we do before we got all of this fancy technology...we strived at being good/careful drivers and took pride in parking a vehicle properly. I'm just saying I wouldn't beat myself up over something that is strictly a luxury item and does not affect the day to day safe operation of your vehicle.

Thats what i have done but ive got 2 weeks off work and i am having a play with the x. They havent worked for any of the time i have owned the car, just thought it may be a common issue or something cheap/easy to resolve.
