I started this thread to warn others to be very careful when trying to fix the cluster assembly. If you screw up it will cost you $$$.
I accidentally pulled out the fuel gauge when I was trying to get rid of dead pixel the first time.
I just removed the freaking spring off it and pressed the gauge back, had to recalibrate it few times, but that was it...NO FURTHER PROBLEMS.
Interestingly all the stuff I swapped in my X is kind of oddly designed,so you break it when you try to replace or fix something,I wouldn't mind at all if BMW Canada or in your case BMWNA didn't want a golden Grand(it always costs around that when I get a quote from the dealership) as a minimum,no matter what needs to be done
Your post is kind of misleading....does your X start when you connect the cluster?

My needles were dead. I also tested them which showed open short(s) within the motor assembly.

The only problem with going to the cheaper repair places (like the ones on Ebay) is they do not use OE BMW parts to fix it. They use the least expensive parts they can find. They also don't have a good guarantee policy. North Hollywood Speedo is more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Yes, it starts with the damaged cluster plugged in but the needles do not work. It is the original cluster to the vehicle so no issues with starting or running.

I should have the repaired cluster back from NHS&C late next week. I'll post up how the repair looks and functions.
