Ipod MP3 auxiliary cable Help

I have been wondering if I can put an adapter in my X5 built in Nov of 2001. I have the radio/cd changer in trunk/vhs/navigation system

This site talks about a radio built before 2002 and after 2002.

I just had my radio replaced with: RMFD Radio BMW Business and Professional (whatever that means). Can i use one of these cables?
Best Sellers BMW Aux input cable

The description talks about having the dealer setting the compatibility. Should I just call the dealer? or do you think I can get one of these and install it myself, i don't have a lot of patience for radios and such?
