New winter tire setup just came in!

I'm thinking about going with the exam same setup for my 05 4.8IS! Did you get them from tirerack?

dont think they still have them. but so far i love them....especially bc my car is black on black

I went with a 19x8.5" rim and 265-50-19 tire which ends up about .5" taller than stock but fits very nicely in the wheelwells of an "is" model.



I sold the X5 and now this winter set-up needs to go to a new home. Tires are Pirelli Scorpion and they have 2 seasons and maybe 8-9K miles on them. Contact me via PM if interested in taking them off my hands and putting back to good winter use!

awesome, yeah they have the same wheels just in different colors. Did you use spacers in the rear?

You dont need spacers. Its for aesthetic reasons only.

With the spacers it will push your wheels out so it doesn't look too sunken in the wheelwell.

BTW .. Make sure you're talking about the same thing.

Wheel spacers vs. Hub Ring.

The Hub ring is to ensure the wheel is centered when installed. Definitely install them and make sure they're facing the proper direction. Look at them carefully and you'll see that they're beveled. They should be installed so that the wheels mount flush.

Good grief, balanced 4 times (including once by Greenwich BMW), changed front control arms, bushings and ball joints, and had all 4 new tires replaced 6 weeks later. Bringing it back to the indy on Friday to check rotors, calipers, etc. Not fun. Not fun at all.

looks like this is the right thread for me, im looking to get winter tires for my 4.8is. i have some questions. do i need new tires and rims? i live on long island. i made it through last years winter while pulling a trailer but i cant survive again. i previously had an x5 3.0 with stock tires and it worked great in the winter. but now with this truck i look like a new born deer trying to walk.

You can search for what others did but pretty much most people just buy another set of wheels (less than 20s) and buy winter tires to match.

You can just pickup some used OEM wheels. I guess they would be 17" wheels since 18" tires cost way more and sizing might be a problem (IIRC).

If u can pickup a set of used tires with the wheels, that would be perfect I would think. You dont need new but if you have money to burn, why not? LOL!
