SES but no fault codes. Ideas?

Hey guys 02 4.4 X5. I have the SES light come on, and when I went to read the codes with my OBD II reader I get no fault codes to erase. Any idea how to get the SES light off? What would cause the Light to come on without any codes? The last code it threw was for the 2ndary air pump, I cleared the code and its been at least a month since the SES light had come on.

Thanks guys

Ken

could be the gas cap not sitting right. Did you fill your X lately?

I thought that might be the problem too and I took off and replaced the gas cap earlier today. From what I have read it can take a little while for the light to go off if thats the problem, so I will give it a little while and see if it goes away. Not confident that this is the problem though.

Thanks for the suggestion

Ken

most likely the transmission has faulted a gear monitoring fault.

Interesting, no perceivable difference in the way the car drives/shifts. Wouldn't a tranny problem trigger trans-safe
Mode? There are no warnings on the dash either. I'm off tomorrow and may take it by an indie and see what they think. Just wondering if this has happened before to anyone else.

Thanks for suggestions

Ken
