Picture of oil filter area

Does anyone have a picture of the oil filter housing area without the filter attached or housing. The actual metal part on the car is what I'm looking for . For a 05-06 x5 4.4 n62 please (filter on bottom of car version). Just need to compare. Thanks so much!

No one? I need to compare, something random fell out when I was changing the oil...namely a spring and a "thimble looking" piece of metal. Very random...do not know what they are and am worried. Can't find them in the parts catalog either...yes I know, but any help is appreciated

Well, sounds like that's what that part is. Did it come out with the housing or fall out when you tried to reattach the housing to the block?

Nothing should come out from removing the plug, nor from removing the filer housing.....

Oi, sounds like a simple $60 oil change is gonna end up costing a bit more. If you can, try to bring the parts in to your dealer and see if they can id the part. Tell them where they fell from and maybe they can confirm.

Hmm good idea. Only crappy part is closest dealer is 460km away. I think I will call and send picture though at least get an Id on the parts. And not start my vehicle in the mean time

This problem, fortunately for me, was found during an oil service early this year when our X5 2005 4.4 sports was under cpo warranty.
