how to code Mk4?

Hello everyone,
I updated my Nav unit from Mk3 to Mk4 but the one I bought it was out of 7er, so I have no ETA and maps freezes sometimes so I know I need coding .

My question is can I do the coding my self if I bought the OBD2 cable?
I wanna really change some of the settings too.
Also the my sound system is not loud enough when I play Cds, but when I connect my phone to a tape kit it's much louder, is this something I can adjust ?
thank you

Dont qoute me as i dont have nav but been reading as much as i can on this since sooner or later im a retrofit it.. I thought the only reason you would need coding regarding the navigation is for DSP. Thats only the dsp amp to be coded to the car. Everywhere else I read that the unit from mk3 to mk4 is plug and play. Is the nav dvd you using scratched or non-oem/ Maybe the drive on that unit is going bad. Or maybe like you said it needs to be coded for your car. I just never heard of that though.

Have to agree. when the map on mine was freezing it was because it was a dodgy copy. I know this because I copied it. Every time I went back to my original all was again fine. Finally bought a 2011 proper copy and that to has never frozen.
