20" rims?!?

I'm working on upgrading my x5's look and rims are a big factor? The question is will the 20" rims be a roller coaster ride and completely take away any ride comfort? What is your experience? Can I compensate the loss of ride comfort with some Tires? Maybe the size of tires matters? What brand of tires do you suggest? And how do I get the staggered look? I'd like the rear tires to come out a little more?

most 20" Factory or OEM Replica's come staggered. 9.5" front and 10.5" rear some are even 10"/11". The wide rear wheels typically depending on the offset give the poke look your going after. If they aren't poked enough for you there is always spacers that can be bolted up to get the job done.

Ride quality is pretty poor compared to my stock 17's that I drive in the winter but you have to pay to play.

Agree with Panda

I run 20" staggered 9.5/10.5 (275/315 Toyos) - and got a major b0ll0ck1ng from the Mrs. last week when the winter wheels (17" all round and 235) went on - "It feels so much nicer and easier to drive like this - blah blah blah - why cant we have it like this all the time - blah blah blah"

Lucky she doesnt realise that the fuel consumption will be better with the smaller wheel/tyres too

As Panda says - "you pay to play" Kev

I've been driving 20" staggered runflats in the summer and 18" runflats in the winter.

The 18" wheels+tires combination gives a much more comfortable ride. So I agree with the other posters, you have "to pay to play".

There is one advantage though. My wife doesn't want to drive my X5 and will avoid it as much as possible

What size are your wheels? Tread depth?

I just measured my rims and the diameter is a little over 19". I guess they are 19 inch wheels then, is this correct?

The ride comfort is ok to me, stiffer than our work van. My wife already pointed out she likes the van better, but said it is not too bad. So do you think the if these are 19", that 20" won't that be much of a difference?

Thanks
