Is my alternator going?

Just noticed this tonight when driving home from dinner. At a stop the vehicle seems to have a pulsating whine that I can hear in the cabin. Like the frequency of a siren goin up and down up and down but pretty fast. When the frequency dips down it also seems like there is a little (barely noticeable) vibration in the drivetrain. This is not indicated at all on the cluster but i can feel it in my seat. This is with the lights, heated seats and stereo on, so it seems like this is when I would notice it the most if it was the alternator. Is there a way to test the alternator output from the OBC or do I need to take it to an auto part store and test the battery and alternator together. O and its a 4.4 with 93k on it so it seems like its about for some stuff to start failing.
