What will remove water spots on the gloss black 'B' pillars?
I tried Zymol polish but it seems to just sit on top of it. Im reluctant to try a polishing compound, but that may be next. The P/O never cleaned it, so I'm trying to clean everything I can that isn't paint, since I'll be painting it eventually. Thanks!

I have the shadow trim on my 4.8 and it used to be discolored. I saw the advisory to use Megs #9 and I bought that, tried it and was not happy. I then tried the Einszett polish. It was a little better but not what I wanted. Next up was Ultimate Compound by Megs. Much better results. I was doing this by hand with a foam applicator. It takes some elbow grease but you will get the results you need.
I am planning on getting M105 next from Megs. They sell this in an 8 oz size so you can get it for under $10. I am thinking the 105 might need less effort than the UC but not sure. I also spoke with a person who used Adams polish and a Porter Cable to clean up his trim. Using a machine is def the way to go as he was very happy with the results. I would not waste your money on anything less aggressive than UC or 105 if you are doing this by hand. The No. 9 did not budge the discoloration at all. Just my .02 Hope this helps everyone.

It's not actually a water spot, its oxidization of the paint on the pillar.
Mothers also makes a product which name escapes me at the moment, says right on the package that says removes oxydization and discolorization and works very well |

I will look into all of the above, for sure. Thanks!

The shadowline trim panels are black anodized aluminium, not paint. The spots/discoloration are waterspots and most likely carwash soap residue that was applied to the surface while hot from the sun and allowed to sit. I have used 3M polishing compound on these panels and the spots/discoloration are still there.

Did you use a polisher? I worked it by hand and got nowhere.

I did...a low speed random orbit polisher...but was not very aggressive. Took around 10 minutes to do all areas (except around sideview mirrors which I did by hand).

Thanks, I will try that this weekend. I only have an 11" ROP, may have to pick up a 6".
