GT1 SSS coding question

What coding/programming can be done with SSS and cannot be done with DISv44 (not v45 up) on GT1. Can I do a tranny firmware upgrade from DISv44 or I need SSS with the yellow head?

if your car was programed with a new version of gt1 then dis v44 wont work. do u have the firmware to upgrade with. ive only been able to code which means it tells the unit u put in what car its in and what other modules and option so they all work together.

Not sure what's been used last time. I just want to check the tranny firmware and upgrade if needed. I have a hard downshift from 2nd to 1st and it looks like there is a firmware that fixes this issue by not allowing to shift to 1st if the car didn't come to a complete stop. I am not sure if this will fix my problem but I want to try it. I don't have a GT1 yet but I was planning to get one. It looks like from DIS v45 Up gt1 has the programming done via SSS. At this point I am not sure what to get to be able to do the EGS firmware check/update. There are a few DIY for the latest DIS v57 and SSS v34 which I can try.
Would this setup let me do the tranny check/upgrade?

So, no other way to get the tranny firmware update other than the dealer?
Thanks for the good info.
