I think the question is better put to the seller. Will they fit in the OE opening, for instance. Shipping is a consideration for return if no worky, as the ballasts are kinda' heavy. With all the options they -seem- to know what they are doing, and you realize it ain't gonna be $30 I'm guessing.

I installed complete replacement DEPO HIDs (with AE conversion) headlights to my '01 with no problems aside from finding a decent place for the ballasts to live. Swapped fogs as well.

No OBC/dash light errors for me, but (ayep) YMMV..

1) You should not simply add HID bulbs to a Halogen headlight housing - unless you want to blind everyone.

2) Better off buying complete HID headlight assembly replacements as they are fairly inexpensive.

3) Do a search as many people have done this upgrade. I'm sure it will contain the info. you need to make an educated decision - as well as if they received the error or not.

Good luck.

Not trying to give you a hard time but it depends on which way you go. Explore the Articles and the X5 tips sections.

You can replace your factory halogens with factory projectors.

You can replace them with DIY projectors.
http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...ft-x5-e53.html

You can replace them with aftermarket like the DEPOs. Search and you'll find them.

If you're still having problems, let us know.

No your not giving me a hard time at all. I understand wat ur saying. But I wanna keep my stock headlights in and just put hids in it. I know it blinds people and everything but I live in the Bronx so there's a lot of lights anyway so they won't blind people to bad. I'm just nervous that the on board computer on the dash is gonna say error. Thanks again

In that case then, whoever you buy the kit from should have the proper electronics (simply aske them).

In my case, with HID fogs, I had to buy an extra ERROR cancelling harness. I got mine from DDM tuning.

Others said they did not need anything else. While others still used resistors or capacitors.

So it really depends on the kit you buy.

Thanks again. And that's where I'm getting it from to. On the website it has a option for error cancellation but I didn't know if I needed to order that or not. Thanks again.

You do need the error cancellation if your car came with Hi- Cluster.
