A/C Problem
I've done some searching and I believe that the solution to the problem to my a/c problem has to do with the FSR, but I would like some other opinions. Last weekend the wife and I were out running around town and we had to stop so that she could feed the new baby. I left the car running so we would stay cool while we were parked. As we were sitting there I felt the compressor kick on but then the air started getting warmer. Now the air won't cool off no matter what setting I have it on and no matter where I have the air directed. Does this sound like the FSR still? Thanks for the help everyone.

Check Freon FIRST (refrigerant) before anything else. Have a quick charge. If air becomes cool then you're good.....for the moment.
IMHO, I'm still trying to determine the changes or the improvements in my AC system after I did a DIY replacing my FSR. |

I had the freon refilled about two months ago. It was a half pound low so they filled it back up abc tested for leaks. They didn't find any. The car has about 100,000 miles at that time and hadn't ever had the a/c serviced so i expected it to be low then. Ever since then it blew ice cold until that day we were sitting for a while.

Check freon level again. It might have leaked between your last check up and that day. Do the FSR replacement yourself, it's easy, it's cheap +/- US$70 and you'll change it in the future anyway. I went through the same ordeal. Considering I'm from a tropical country and need an AC always, it was really a PITA.
Other things you might want to check: 1. Does your AUX Fan work? (The big electric fan in front) non functioning or irregular faulty AUX fan will damage the AC system because of heat. This will cause leakage in the aluminium tubes if there's too much heat in the system. This is caused by FSR and/or a defective AUX Fan. 2. Do you have warm air on the right and cold air on the left (or the reverse). This is caused by the FSR. 3. Is there strong air breeze coming out of your air vents or does it seem like there is an obstruction after a few minutes / hours of operation? - ice builds up in the evaporator and prevents air to go through your vents. This is caused by the faulty drier, FSR or dirty/faulty inside temp sensors (in front of the AC control panel). I'm not an expert and not trying to be one but these are based on my recent experience. Hope this helps. |

Thank you for the help, I appreciate it I'll check the freon level again and probably go ahead and replace the fsr since it seems to go out relatively often and cause problems

I know it's been a long time but I finally got around to getting the a/c fixed a little while back since it started getting hot around here again. It turned out that the a/c compressor went out. I ordered a reman from FCP Euro and installed it and now it works great. Just wanted to post a resolution to the problem.
