Front end popping
My x5 is making a popping noise in the front right. Happens while turning or going over rough terrain. Slow tight turns are the worse. I don't think it is the power steering pump pop I have read about. The dealer has replaced lower control arms, and has sway bar bushing ordered to do next. He says the TSB on the Wheel Bearing is not it. Any suggestions? Are CV joint problems prevelant on the all wheel drive? I haven't seen much discussion on this topic. The car has been at the dealer a week. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks |

Sway end links (item 7 in the picture below) is a common source for the noise you are describing.
A good article on CV joints can be found here - http://www.xoutpost.com/showarticle-41.html :xoutpost:

Sounds like the dealer is on the right track. Thanks for the backup. I had read the link to the article you gave me earlier. Sounds like the CV joints should not be much of an issue on an 03 x5 with 30k.
thanks, wade |

Had the same thing happen, been going a little fast over some bumps too? Anyway, simple fix at the stealership under warranty.
