I suspect that the CPS is not the issue in my case, but I ordered a new one anyway. When do you expect your new sensors? |

The E90 Bentley mentions that dirty or sticky vanos will throw CPS codes. Here's the codes I'm getting from DIS and INPA: 1) 2A84: CDKENWS2: intake/inlet vanos 2. Limit stop adaptations out of valid range P0021 A camshaft position- timing over-advanced or system performance (bank2) Possible causes: -Vanos intake solenoid valve defective or soiled -intake camshaft defective (vanos adjustment unit) 2) 2A89: CDKAMWS2: outlet/exhaust vanos 2: camshaft adjustment has not reached retard/late position: P0024 "B" camshaft -timing over-advanced or system performance (bank2)

ttt was this ever figured out? also if you look and compare bank 1 and bank 2, the electrical connections running from the intake manifold area to the CPS sensors on either bank seem to be switched for the sides? (i.e. the CPS sensor line on bank 1 closest to the front goes to the upper, and the line behind it goes to the lower. on bank 2, this seems to be reversed. weird!
Timing, VANOS, 1 tooth offset to crankshaft - Page 3 here the guy reversed the two cps's and was running rough, but this was resolved. |

Anyone know where the VANOS solenoids are on the N62?

Sticking out of the front timing covers - about 3 and 9 o'clock.

I also want to admit that intake cam shaft sensors are different on bank 1 and 2 and this is ridiculous, there is also the 90-100 $ price difference )

So oddly enough my CEL turned off on it's own. Car runs like a raped ape just as it did before.
The CPS sensors on the N62 confuse the hell out of me. I've read (what I think) is every thread related to them on this forum and bimmerforums and there seems to be no clear concise info on which ones go where and which ones to replace when you get the code.
