Suspension Squeak
Does anyone know of the exact rubber bush that causes the problem, as it seems to be a common. Its so hard to isolate because of the way sound bounces off everything and I dont want to end up getting the wrong component changed. Here are the pics of where I suspect its coming from

That part in the lower picture you're pointing to is the lower ball joint in the rear suspension. The part in the upper is the upper control arm. Both parts get slack over the years and can cause noise. Now whether that is your only squeak, I couldn't know... but it's a start.

Yep, thats the ones from the pics, and the parts that usually wear and get slack.

Having a bit of trouble...wonder if anyone can help?
I am replacing the rear upper control arms, the rear lower arm ball joints and the front thrust rod bushings. I ordered the TIS manual DVD from ebay but can't find what I'm looking for. I am having trouble finding the repair procedure and torque settings for rear upper control arms(part # 33326770859) and the rear lower arm ball joints (33326767748) and front thrust rod bushings(31121124622). 2001 X5 3.0 At this point I have the upper control arms installed but need the torque settings for each end of the arm. I can't find an decent extraction tool for the ball joint; it's moving but not all the way out yet, so I'm making a tool to press it out. (hope this works like I plan it..) I understand before I torque it down it needs to have a load, just need to find the torque settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Marcus |

I don't know if this is the same problem you guy's have. I have an 01 4.4 X5 sport package. When I make a right turn, and only a right turn about 20 mph or so, I hear a metal to metal sound. Don't know where its coming from but it sound like (if anyone has heard this before) when a rotor rubs against the guard that sits behind it. Does anyone know what this might be? I need some help on this one, I'm taking it to my indy and would like to get some input so that we can some what narrow it down. Thanks in advance.

I may have the same problem ClubScene is dealing with on my '01 3.0i. Same location. Driver's side rear suspension. I suspect someplace near the bottom of the lower control arm. Did you figure out what fixed it for you?
